Civil Construction

At PCA Ground Engineering, we specialise in delivering technically advanced, ISO-certified geotechnical and civil construction solutions across Australia.

Advanced Ground Engineering for Public and Infrastructure Projects

At PCA Ground Engineering, we specialise in delivering technically advanced, ISO-certified geotechnical and civil construction solutions across Australia. With a proven track record of performance in both public and private sectors, we support local councils, government agencies, and civil contractors with high-quality, compliant, and tailored outcomes on complex infrastructure projects.

Our experienced teams work collaboratively with engineers, contractors, and authorities to ensure every project is executed with technical precision, schedule certainty, and the highest safety standards.

Our Civil Capabilities

We offer a comprehensive range of services designed to meet the diverse requirements of today’s infrastructure environments:

  • Retaining & Shoring Systems
Permanent and temporary solutions including soldier piles, shotcrete, ground anchors, and soil nails to support deep excavations and protect embankments.
  • Slope Stabilisation & Rockfall Protection
Engineered solutions such as rock bolting, mesh, and sprayed concrete to control erosion and mitigate geohazard risks along road, rail, and utility corridors.
  • Excavation Support
Custom-designed earth retention systems for safe and efficient bulk earthworks, including in congested urban and restricted-access sites.
  • Bridge Abutments & Embankment Stabilisation
Foundation support, ground treatment, and settlement control for transport infrastructure and critical interface zones.
  • Water & Environmental Infrastructure
Specialist applications including grout curtains, channel linings, shotcrete walls, and seepage control for drainage, spillways, and coastal structures.
  • Utility & Tunnel Access Works
Ground support and stabilisation for shafts, culverts, pits, and portals, particularly in live or space-constrained environments.

Integrated Delivery Approach

PCA provides end-to-end delivery, from early engagement through to certification, ensuring continuity, accountability, and quality throughout each stage:

  • Geotechnical site investigations and analysis
  • Design collaboration and constructability reviews
  • Full installation of ground support and civil systems
  • Earthworks, remediation, and backfilling
  • Final finishes, including sculpted or decorative shotcrete surfaces

Stone Pitching

At PCA Ground Engineering, we deliver high-quality stone pitching solutions designed to stabilise slopes, prevent erosion, and enhance the visual appeal of civil and infrastructure projects. Often used on inclined or uneven ground, stone pitching provides a durable and effective method for retaining land and creating manageable, level surfaces.

Our experience ranges from large-scale projects such as the Kingsford Smith Drive Upgrade to smaller, detailed works like those completed at Kirra. While more time-intensive than alternatives like shotcrete, stone pitching offers a superior aesthetic that aligns with architectural or natural finishes where visual impact is a priority

Gabion Baskets

Gabion has traditionally been used for retaining walls due to its low cost compared to conventional methods.

  • Rock Gabions – Durable, Sustainable Retaining Solutions
  • Engineered for strength and designed for longevity, rock gabions provide flexible and environmentally friendly solutions for retaining walls, erosion control, and landscaping.

What Are Rock Gabions?

Gabions are wire mesh baskets filled with rock, designed to form strong and permeable retaining structures. They adapt to ground movement, reduce water pressure, and can blend into natural surroundings. Typically built as either mass gravity walls (relying on the weight of rock to retain the earth) or as mechanically stabilised walls utilising earth anchors to hold the wall in place.

Applications

  • Slope stabilisation
  • Retaining walls for roads, bridges, and infrastructure
  • Erosion control along waterways and embankments
  • Noise and security barriers
  • Landscape architecture features

Advantages

  • Durability – corrosion-protected wire mesh with quality stone fill
  • Environmentally Friendly – promotes natural drainage and vegetation growth
  • Cost-Effective – can be efficient to construct compared to concrete or block walls.
