The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Draftsperson for a short-term contract to cover paternity leave for minimum 3 months with potential for extension depending on performance and awarded jobs. You will work closely with our Engineering Manager and broader engineering, estimating, and project management teams to produce accurate technical drawings and construction documentation across active ground engineering projects.
This role suits either a strong recent graduate looking to build real-world experience in a specialist technical environment, or an experienced contract Draftsperson seeking a well-defined engagement with a reputable business.
What You Will Be Doing
- Producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including construction documents, concept schematics, and engineering design drawings
- Translating engineer sketches and specifications into detailed, compliant drawings
- Supporting tender teams with early-stage concept drawings
- Maintaining drawing registers and document control in line with our IMS
- Coordinating with internal drafters and the broader engineering team to meet project deadlines
- Assisting with engineering data entry, QA/QC data entry, and general team support as required
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Civil 3D is a must
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication in English
- General understanding of civil construction practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable:
- Experience with Microstation, 12D and Revit is desirable)
- Background in ground engineering or structural drafting
Candidate Profiles
We are open to two candidate profiles for this role:
Recent graduate: You hold a minimum Diploma in a relevant field and have strong AutoCAD skills from your studies or early career. You must be based on the Gold Coast and able to work from our Arundel office in person.
Experienced contractor: You have a minimum 3 years’ experience as a Draftsperson with a focus on civil works, and you are comfortable working independently and delivering quality outputs with minimal supervision. Interstate candidates are welcome to apply; remote working arrangements can be discussed.
