At the Civil Contractors Federation NSW 2018 Earth Awards, PCA Ground Engineering won the Category 1 award for the Foundation Replacement at Burrinjuck Towers 125 & 126. After the 25 finalists over 5 categories were assessed by independent and expert judges, PCA Ground Engineering were awarded first place in NSW for a Project Valued up to $2 million. The Burrinjuck Transmission Towers was an extremely challenging project, which involved the design and installation of an intricate layout of micropiles, including a bespoke connection to each tower leg. Walking trails had to be constructed through the National Park in order to preserve and protect the environment, when the towers where accessed, specialized drilling equipment was winched and helicoptered to the difficult access sites located in a remote area of Western NSW.
David Castledine (CCF NSW Chief Executive Officer) praised all 5 winners of the awards, stating: “Each year the industry seems to raise the bar in terms of project delivery. Watching the video presentation of each project on the night gave you an appreciation of just how good our civil contractors are in NSW”.
